Improve Performance through Mindfulness, Acceptance, and Commitment

The concepts of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) can help student athletes address concerns related to thoughts and feelings that impact sport performance. ACT focuses on how we relate to our thoughts and emotions instead of trying to change them. So, let’s move toward accepting our unwanted inner experiences, and defusing them (i.e., decreasing the power that distressing thoughts have over our emotions and experiences), rather than dwelling on them.
